Environmental Advisory & Assessment Services

The Keres environmental services practice area is rich with project experience in environmental consulting, which includes project management, cultural resources, natural resources and NEPA support, laboratory testing, environmental assessments, environmental data inventories, environmental investigations, environmental sampling of various media, and environmental studies and evaluations.

Our team of Environmental Engineers, Environmental Scientists, Archeologists, and field assessors represent a premier collection of experts with substantial experience supporting federal environmental programs.

Environmental Compliance and Mitigation
Keres provides administrative, information technology, managerial, and technical assistance to the Department of Defense (DoD) for administration of the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s (OSD’s) Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program (NALEMP). Since 2004, Keres has supported the DoD requirement to cleanup, restore, or otherwise mitigate environmental impacts on Indian lands resulting from DoD activities.

Keres also developed and manages the Native American Management System for Environmental Impacts (NAMSEI), which collects, stores and maintains information on past, present, and future reports of DoD-related impacts and activities that have the potential to affect Indian lands and resources.
Environmental Assessments
Keres has performed Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments (EA) for federal, state and tribal entities nationwide. Where applicable, EAs are conducted in compliance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard Practice E 1527-05 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development.
Environmental Remediation Oversight
Working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Keres provides environmental field technical support to remediation actions in Arizona and California. The projects include consultation with tribes, remediation work plan support, cultural resources management plans, site characterization reports, cooperative agreements, memorandum of understandings, archeological assessment and sampling plans, and development of briefings to tribal councils.
Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act Inspections
Keres supports the Bureau of Indian Education on an ongoing basis to fulfill Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requirements for federal buildings. Keres has performed asbestos inspections and assessments on more than 30 buildings in accordance with 40 CFR 736.85 and 40 CFR 763.93.
