Effective communication is a vital component of a successful project.  Keres’ expansive knowledge in government-to-government communication and understanding of facilitation processes with federally recognized tribes has resulted in an effective communication approach utilized by the Department of Defense.

Tribal Outreach

Keres supports DoD with an aggressive tribal outreach program. This outreach fosters a more positive relationship between DoD installations and tribal governments. DoD has made it a high priority to proactively engage tribal governments in discussions prior to taking any actions that may affect protected tribal resources, tribal rights, or Indian lands Keres assists with outreach activities including logistical, exhibit, meeting and administrative support. These activities provide a venue for DoD to both share information  on DoD programs and initiatives and to respond to tribal members’ concerns.

Native Hawaiian Consultation

Since late 2006, Keres has worked with DoD to develop and implement the DoD Consultation Policy with Native Hawaiian Organizations and the DoD Instruction for that policy.

Energy Management Program Communication

Keres supports the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with the planning and execution of a comprehensive energy management program.  Keres supported a nationwide education and outreach initiative to coach FEMA facility and energy representatives on the energy audit process, achieving greater energy efficiencies, and the regulatory mandates driving the initiative.  Keres led Webinars and developed educational content for the agency’s electronic newsletter to cost-effectively educate FEMA personnel.
